The history of the holiday began in pagan times among the Celts who inhabited the territories of the British Isles. Traditionally, at the end of autumn, it was customary to celebrate the end of the harvest noisily. The symbolic day of October 31, exactly before the beginning of winter (in England November is the first winter month) was considered a symbolic and very important day. Initially, the holiday was called Samhain or Samhain. The ancient Celts believed that it was during Samhain that the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the afterlife of spirits were erased. Do not forget about the decoration of houses, offices and shops, which are filled with skeletons, garlands of eyeballs or cobwebs.
