The film Amadeus, (1) d. which was based on Peter Shaffer’s hit play, won nine Academy Awards in 1984. It was beautifully filmed in Prague, (2) c. where the buildings and streets haven’t changed much for centuries, and focused on the relations between Mozart and an intelligent but less talented composer, Antonio Salieri, (3) a. who is played by F. Murray Abraham. Tom Hulce stars as Mozart, (4) e. whose talent as a composer drives Salieri into depression. Some critics think that the part of Salieri, (5) f. for which Abraham won an Academy Award , is the key to the movie. Salieri suffers because he recognises Mozart’s greatness (6) b. which he can admire but cannot imitate. The tragedy is that Salieri helps to destroy Mozart and himself because of his great jealousy.
