Если глагол состоит из двух и более слогов и на последний слог, который состоит из одной гласной перед конечной согласной, падает ударение, то конечная согласная удваивается: begin — beginning, admit — admitting. Заматьте: enter — entering (ударение на последний слог не падает); последняя буква -l после гласной (если гласная одна) в британском варианте всегда удваивается, независимо от ударения: travel — travelling, signal — signalling.
