Oliver Cromwell (25 April 1599 – 3 September 1658) was an English military and political leader who temporarily overthrew the Stuart monarchy, turning England into a republican Commonwealth. He was born at Cromwell House in Huntingdon on the 25 April 1599, to Robert Cromwell and Elizabeth Steward. As one of the commanders of the New Model Army, he played an important role in the defeat of the King's forces, the royalists in the English Civil War. After the execution of King Charles I in 1649, Cromwell dominated the short-lived Commonwealth of England, conquered Ireland and Scotland, ruling as Lord Protector from 1653 until his death in 1658.
My home town is small. It is rich in parks and gardens, so it is very green. The town stands on the river and from the bridges you can have a nice view of its beautiful houses. In the center there are mainly old buildings and a church. There is no theatre in my town but there is a museum. The museum is not far from the main square.
The streets of my town are narrow and the houses are not very high. There are many small corner shops where people usually buy food. Also there is a market where people can buy fresh fruits and vegetables.
