In 1918 was founded the pedagogical (teaching) Institute in Ivanovo-Voznesensk. Organization of the Institute was entrusted to the Professor of Moscow state University Sergey Nikolaevich Bogolyubsky , who became its first rector (S. N. Bogolyubskii - biologist , author of several scientific papers on morphology ,comparative anatomy , embryology, vertebrate animals. At the pedagogical Institute, he worked for 4 years.) Classes at the Institute began in January 1919, at three faculties : the socio-historical , natural and physico-mathematical. Studies have begun to about 50 people. The course was a four-year. In 1923 was the first and last for this period, the graduation of students. June 12, 1923 by the decision of the CPC, the Institute was closed. 23 Aug 1932 pedagogical Institute was re-opened . Initially, the Institute was established 4 branches - historical, economic , mathematical, and physical . At the same time with a day office in 1932 opened the reception at the evening Department. 29 December 1973 on the basis of the pedagogical Institute was opened in Ivanovo state University. The first rector was Professor V. N. Latyshev .Now the University's 9 faculties . It was opened 4 new faculty : biology and chemistry , Economics , law and faculty training. The University is preparing in 11 specialties.
