Проходя по своей старой тропе, медведь останавливается у определенного дерева, дерёт его зубами и когтями, трётся о него спиной и головой так высоко, насколько он может достать, даже кончиком носа, стоя на цыпочках. Несомненно,  медведь, подойдя к дереву, может по запаху определить, был ли там другой медведь, и был ли это самец или самка, свой или чужой. Таким образом, дерево является своеобразным средством информации, через которое медведи получают все новости. В той части страны, где много медведей, можно увидеть очень много таких "медвежьих" деревьев.
