On open spaces of great Ob, where the river Vakh runs into it, according to the old residents and regional specialists, in 1909 there was a landing stage, to stick to which steel merchant steamships to be reserved by fire wood. This landing stage was called "Nizhnevartovsk" that meant in transfer from language of aboriginals "in lower reaches and on a river bend". And it is valid, the river in this place does abrupt turn, a bend. Soon the first settlers have constructed five houses near landing stage in which 11 persons were occupied. Nizhnevartovsk is Russia’s oil-bearing vein, the center of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area. Nizhnevartovsk is a unique city in Russia which has kept tradition to meet short summer festival. City life, as they say, is in full swing. I am very glad that I was born and grew up in this beautiful city, and I continue to live and study here. Although our city is rather young, it is very beautiful, the most beautiful city in the world.
