Let me tell you some words about one of the most important American holidays, I mean Thanksgiving Day. It is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November. It is a great day of national togetherness. The date was officially established by Abraham Linkoln, the 16th president, in 1863. And since that time Thanksgiving Day become the national holiday. All members of the family gather around the table which includes a traditional roasted turkey, served with mashed potatoes, different vegetables and a savoury cran berry sauce. The entire feast is supplemented with a pumpkin pie and apple сидр. Before the meal people pray to express their gratitude for all they have. A lot of costumed parades are held around the country. The most picturesque one, organized in New York, unites more than 10 thousand participants and about 3 million and a half spectators. Macy’s Parade is really worth watching. As for me, I would like to take part in this marvelous event and enjoy its hearty atmosphere.
My favourite shop is a clothes store. I really like shopping for new clothes and shoes. My mum always helps me to choose the right size and the right design. However, I prefer shopping with my best friends. Not far from the place where I live there is a huge mall with numerous shops, restaurants, an ice-rink, a cinema and entertainment facilities. We often go there for shopping or just to have a good time. It has become our favourite pastime recently. We don’t always buy something but window-shopping can be also fun.
