I am lucky to have parents who are interested in travelling. Each year we go somewhere new and exciting. I’m only 14, but I’ve already been in several neighboring countries and even in Thailand, which is 9 hours away by plane. One of the places I really want to visit is Spain. I’ve seen many colorful prospects with Spanish sights and resorts, which look hyper attractive to me. It’s not very far from our country, but still it is a five-hour flight from Moscow. My parents don’t mind. They say that one day we’ll go there. As there are many resorts and culturally rich cities in Spain, we need to choose where we want to go. After all we decided that Barcelona is the best city for us. First of all, it’s a well-known beach resort. At the same time, it’s the second largest city in the country, which means there are lots of primary sights there. One of the objects that I’d like to see is the Magic Fountain of Montjuic. As far as I know this attraction offers an outstanding light and music show. My younger brother wants to visit the Barcelona Aquarium which houses more than 10 thousand sea animals. There is even a separate tank for sharks and other large fish. My mum’s dream is to see the collection of Picasso’s early works at the most famous museum of Barcelona. My father’s wish is to visit the Camp Nou. It’s the largest football stadium in Spain. And finally, we all want to walk across the famous La Rambla - the most popular street in the city, which is always full of tourists and locals

Выражение «last Christmas» переводится как Рождество», следовательно, речь идёт о времени. Когда мы говорим о мы используем времена Past. Выражение «what you doing last Christmas» — автоматически становиться не верным, потому что в построении его использована формула, похожая на Present Continuous (настоящее продолжительное время), хотя правильно её применение выглядело бы так «what are (!) you doing...», но у нас же речь о значит, не подходит. Или же Вы хотели применить продолжительное), но, снова–таки, правильное бы использование Past Continuous выглядело бы так «what were (!) you doing...». Да, с одной стороны, вроде бы занятие на Рождество — дело, которое длилось какое-то время (продолжительное), но употребление Past Cоntinuous не возможно. Почему?
1) У нас есть чёткий часовой маркер Past Simple: last Christmas. Запомните: со словами yesterday, then, last night/last week/last month/last Christmas/last year (и т.д. со всеми выражениями с last), in 1994, 3 months ago, 5 days ago, etc. употребляется ТОЛЬКО Past Simple.
2) Правило гласит, что для завершённых действий Рождество и действие завершилось) с указанным точным временем (last Christmas) мы используем Past Simple.
Формула Past Simple для вопросов: вс глагол did + подлежащее + глагол предложения в первой форме, т.е.: «Did...V1?». Т.е., получается: «What did you do last Christmas?» (это называется «специальный вопрос», потому что тут есть слово what, и оно всегда (!) в вопросах будет перед вс глаголом).
