My parents are very busy people. My father is a businessman. He is a chief manager in a very big firm. Every day he has a lot of work to do, that’s why he gets up very early, even at weekends. In the morning he has time only for a light breakfast and a hot cup of coffee. Meanwhile he usually looks through the newspapers and business magazines. Then he goes to work. His work lasts till six o’clock in the evening. Precisely at six everybody leaves the building because my father thinks one should work well in working time. Due to this unbreakable rule everybody has some time to spend with the family. In the evening my father likes to watch TV, go to the theatre with my mother or have a nice chat with friends.
On Sunday we went an a day trip to London. It (was raining) when we (started) and a strong wind (was blowing). But when we (arrived), the rain had already (stopped) and only little white clouds (were flying) across the sky. We (were) sure we (would have) a wonderful day. And we (did). We (visited) the National Gallery and (felt) quite happy. After that we (saw) a colorful procession (walking) along the Mall. At 2 o'clock our group (was) in the Tower of London. There we (were told) a lot of legends: about the ravens who (live) there and about the kings and queens who (had lived) there. It had already (become) quite hot when we (left) the Tower. So, our teacher (lead) us to Hyde Park where we (found) some shady place and (watched) the ducks (floating) in the water.
The annual carnival in Rio-de-Janeiro is a bright festival. People dance, play music and sing. Everyone is happy and full of joy. Paraders wear colourful costumes. Some of them are really exotic and extravagant. The weather is usually fine and warm, so people don't need to put on lots of clothes. There are so many activities the celebraters can do on those days, from dancing to playing sport to tasting delicious traditional food. If you visit the carnival you will be overwhelmed with your feelings of excitement.
