British children hang their stockings, so Santa Claus could put presents into them. The British usually decorate their houses with fairy lights, angels and small toys. They set up Christmas trees. After lunch they listen to the Christmas speech of the Quenn, shown on TV. Children usually sing Christmas carols. British families and friends give presents to each other. During the weeks before Christmas Day, they send cards to friends and families. On the eve of Christmas they cook little pies filled with nuts and dried fruit. On the Sunday before Christmas many people go to churches, where different hymns are sung. Usually children come around in the evening to the front doors and collect candies.
