Dear Lil, I wanted to let you know that our life is quite OK and that you should stay at your mother's as long as possible. You need a nice peaceful vacation there on the sunny beach of Miami. The children are fine. Roger is showing a maturity that would really gratify you. The very day after his birthday, he got himself an afterschool job. (You have to be sixteen to work where they have liquor.) As for Billy and Janie, they are no trouble at all. I hardly see them from morning till night but I don't think they are ungrateful or utterly devoid of filial feelings. Don't worry, they are eating plenty. We have pizza nearly every night for dinner.
