1) The main difference between the two is the outlook on death, in Guatemalan cemeteries they have a more positive aspect on death, sort of thinking that the person who passed is happier in the after life and so on6 we can see that by simply looking at their cemeteries as they are filled with bright colors. However in the U.S death is not associated with happy memories and thus American cemeteries are dull and basically completely opposite from Guatemalan cemeteries.
2) Probably because it is better to be positive in tough times, and rather than being upset about the passing of a loved one they would rather prefer to be happy that they lived.
