В 1977 году организационный комитет Олимпиады объявил конкурс на лучшее изображение медведя. В результате жюри выбрало эскиз Виктора Чижикова[1], на котором был изображён улыбающийся медвежонок, опоясанный сине-чёрно-жёлто-зелёно-красным (цвета олимпийских колец) ремнём с пряжкой в виде этих колец золотистого цвета. Мишка был утверждён в качестве официального талисмана 19 декабря 1977 года. Изготовили Олимпийского великана в НИИ Резиновой промышленности в городе Сергиевом Посаде. Как вспоминает автор олимпийского мишки художник детской книги Виктор Чижиков, ему позвонили и сказали: «Поздравляем! Ваш медведь ЦК!». Во время церемонии закрытия Олимпиады-80 гигантская резиновая кукла символа олимпиады на воздушных шарах под песню Пахмутовой и Добронравова в исполнении Лещенко и Анциферовой медленно уплыла в московское небо. Зрелище было столь трогательным, что и зрители, и участники Олимпиады не могли удержаться от слёз. Уже осенью 1980 года к советскому правительству обратилась одна западногерманская фирма с предложением купить резинового Мишу за 100 тысяч дойчмарок. Фирме было отказано.
In 1977 the organizing committee of the Olympic Games announced competition on the best image of a bear. As a result of jury chose the sketch of Victor Chizhikov [1] on which the smiling bear cub surrounded blue black yellow green red (color of the Olympic rings) by a belt with a buckle in the form of these rings of golden color was represented. The bear was approved as an official mascot on December 19, 1977. Made the Olympic giant in scientific research institute of Rubber industry in the city of Sergiev Posad. As the author of the Olympic bear the artist of the children's book Victor Chizhikov remembers, to it called and told: "We congratulate! Your bear passed the Central Committee! ". During the Olympic Games-80 closing ceremony the huge rubber doll of a symbol of the Olympic Games by balloons under Pakhmutova and Dobronravov's song performed by Leshchenko and Antsiferova slowly departured in the Moscow sky. The show was so touching, as the audience, and participants of the Olympic Games couldn't keep from tears. In the fall of 1980 one West German firm addressed to the Soviet government with the offer to buy rubber Mischa for 100 thousand deutschmarks. To firm it was refused.
This is a story of a girl, who was my friend. She was born in the same town with me. At the age of 8 she became more interested in English language. Later she met John.
