Monument to Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol was opened for the 100th anniversary of the writer's birthday on April 26, 1909 on Prechistensky (now Gogol) boulevard. The monument to Gogol is made in granite and bronze. In 1951, the monument was removed from Gogol Boulevard, making room for a new monument. Until 1959, it was kept in a museum.
