It was accompanied by the crunch of branches and rustle of last year's leaves. As an elder brother and my sister's protector, I rushed into the barn and grabbed the first thing that came to hand – a large shovel. And even my little sister ran after her sand scoop. With such a frightening "weapon" we froze at the gate, waiting for the appearance of the terrible monster, and preparing to fight back. What our surprise was when a tiny hedgehog crawled out from under the fence with a funny black nose and beady small eyes. He busily puffed and stamped, creating the same rustle and crunch, which we were so afraid of every evening. At the same time, our relations appeared, catching us in a warlike pose. This funny incident amused everyone, and my sister and I were ashamed of our ridiculous fear. Since then, we know that adult hedgehogs and even baby hedgehogs are able to make a very strong noise.
